Message :	Keskustelu on tälläkin foorumilla ollut melko vähäistä, joten rinnakkaisen foorumin perustaminen ei ole mielestäni tarpeellista. Nythän keskustelua tulee seurata kahdelta foorumilta. Tietysti nämä foorumit voisi profiloida, jolloin kummallakin olisi oma roolinsa.

Message :	Makuasioita, eikä niitä pitäisi koskaan kommentoida, mutta Who´s Nextin kohdalla minun on vaikea sanoa minkään kunnianhimoiseen rocklevyn olevan "aika hiton paljon ja kauttaltaan kovempaa" kamaa. Mittareita on monia, mutta minun mittarillani kauttaaltaan se ontäydellinen rocklevy. no ehkä Pure and easy olisi voinut olla mukana eikä jäädä demoasteelle.

Message :	As albums, the rest of the material is pretty good, but I think of them as separate songs. I have picked my favorites and don't play the albums all in one. Except Lucky Golden, Being and the first one. I also play two of Jims solos all the way thru, not the rest. Nuclear Nightclub the song is timeless, does not wear out. I could play it endlessly, like Jumping Jack Flash. The latter is a pretty stupid song, but the entire Stones 70s sound came out of that song. When riffs started rule, over vocals.

Message :	Hi Ken. I'm glad you find some of the updates and messages useful. The English translations are only there because Timo about ten years ago did many, many pages of translations of Wigwam related material from Finnish into English for me, just as a personal favour. It has been nice to finally find time to work through it and edit it into English "rock journo lingo". With regard to an English book, Mikko's astonishing work on the group really ought to be translated. However, some years ago I asked SAF Publishing in London if they were interested in a Wigwam biography; they had published my own two books on Procol Harum and the Zombies and I thought that if anyone might print a Wigwam book it would be them. But they found there was not enough commercial basis, so it ended there. Perpahs Mikko will be more lucky. I would like to think so, but the Rock book market is a tricky business. Still, mountains can be moved, or so I'm told. All the best, Claes

All I have ever known about Wigwam I got from liner notes. Now there is so much more. Thanks for all of the translations. Is there any hope that the book will be translated into English? Any hope of a DVD?

Message :	Eipä oikeastaan kummastuta että The Who jäi Zeppeliniin verrattuna II divarin bändiksi (jo levymyynninkin osalta). Bändihän oli ihan single-vetoinen 1965-68, ja ennen Tommya hyvää kyytiä vajoamassa "has been" -sarjaan. Vaikka nykyään melkein talousuutisten tunnarina soikin jokin The Who:n kliseebiisi, ei sille voi mitään että bändi kykeni tekemään kokonaisuutena hyviä albumeja VAIN 2 vuoden ajan (1969-71), kun taas Zeppelin... aika hitosti enemmän ja kauttaaltaan kovempaa kamaa. Kun Townshend on aina haastatteluissaan ja kommentoinnissaan niin harkittu pseudointellektuelli lausuntoautomaatti, luulisi miehen 30 vuoden miettimisen jälkeen jo havainneen ne järkälemäiset erot siinä mikä teki Zepukoista giganttisen bändin ja The Whosta "melkein yhden suurista"...! Näin 2007 A.D. ei voi olla tekemättä vertailua. Queen ja The Who kiertää rahastamassa vaikka aidosta asiasta on enää 50% lavalla. Zeppelin sentään osasi lopettaa heti Bonzon kuoleman jälkeen...

Message :	The Who todellakin haki suuntaa 1970. Leedsin Live ja Isle of Wight tästä todisteena. Townsendin vihaama* Zeppelin oli aloittanut uuden suunnan, jolloin laulajan kai piti karjua kitarisat pihalle. Sitähän Who toteutti tässä vaiheessa - onneksi se oli vain välivaihe. Onhan Daltrey aina karjunut, mutta pyrki nyt samanlaiseen ääniakrobatiaan kuin Plant. Ei onnistu, mutta Plantin ääni karahti kiville 1972. Sen sijaan Daltrey taitaa karjua melkein samalla tavalla nykyäänkin. *Townsend on jossain haastattelussa sanonut, että vihaa Zepuja, koska "niistä tuli suurempia kuin me ja ei ole ikinä pitänyt heidän musiikistaan".

Message :	Freddie-demosta tuli ensimmäisenä mieleen että "onpas hyvätasoinen". Siis ei mikään läpijuoksu suttuisin soundein, vaan ihan julkaisukelpoinen, joskin nyt soundillisesti microvoxmaisen ohut teos. Sovitus on hyvin pitkälti jo lopullinen, eroavuuksia kuulee lähinnä basson kuljetuksissa ja muutamissa Ronnien filleissä. B-osassa kuullaan kitaralta ja koskettimilta erikoisempia, kuplivia wahwah-soundeja, joista joku taisi jo huomauttaa. Jimin laulu ei ole niin "lämpimän intensiivinen" kuin lopullisella Freddiellä, enemmän tosiaan läpilaulettu demo siltä osin.

Message :	I think Lucky Golden Stripes and Starpose contains some of Wigwam's greatest songs! Unfortunately performances or arrangements seem to lack the force Wigwam usually had in it's live performances and studio sound. For example "Never turn you in" on Fresh Garbage works much better than the album version. And "Colossus" is majestic and dramatic song on gigs, but somehow the album version sounds sleepy and anemic. I wonder, how much the reording staff's drug use had infuence in the outcome... E

Message :	"Lucky Golden" is like life itself, some gloomy moments, and some extremely funny moments. Jim Pembroke in a, ehem, nutshell. With Wigwam you really need to have the lyrics, or you'll miss half the show, and you need to know every little detail, because much of the quality is in them. A lyric sheet would have helped on NN, at least for me. When I reach that album in my analysis I may well be in for a positive new experice, proving all you NN fans right. I'm looking forward to that. Until then, that record is somewhat impenetrable for me - it simply doesn't let me in.

Message :	Rekun tulevan levyn mainos on uusimmassa Rumba-lehdessä ja ilmestymispäivä siis 14.3. Ostin eilen LoveRadio 4:n ja aivan riittävästi erilaiselta tuo Freddien demoversio kuulostaa, ainoa miinus tulee siitä, että kolmen minuutin kohdalla biisi häivytetään, loppuu ikäänkuin kesken.

Message :	In my opinion, Lucky Golden is the least succesful of the original deep pop era's albums. A cloud of negative vibes and tense atmosphere seems to float over the songs, in contrast to the airy sunshine and positive-sounding inventiveness of Nuclear Nightclub. NN sounds fresh and refreshing to me over and over again, while Lucky Golden has a mood slightly similar to Being - mut that certain mood suits the Gutsi-driven hyper-ambitious art rock monolith much better. I don't mean to say, that Lucky Golden is a bad album. June May Be Too Late, Eddie And The Boys and Colossus are simply brilliant songs. But when listening to Nuclear Nightclub I get the feeling of listening to an album full of classics that have some kind of a standard-defining classic status in my mind. Dark Album, then again, really plays in a dark mood as the title suggests. Lucky Golden sounds dark too, but in a different way. The darkness of Dark Album is some of a beautiful kind, without the distress of LG. Cheap Evening Return is a particularly good example of this. Just sharing some thoughts that emerged from reading this guestbook...

Message :	I'm glad Part 1 of the big Wigwam history Timo and I translated has been useful to some. The second part will follow, though I can't say at the moment exactly when. Also, I will go through Jim Pembroke's entire songwriting production chronologically with comments and analysis of both music and words. The Pems' only single and the two first Blues Section singles are already finished and ready to go on. Nic Stayt is helping out with getting the lyrics right - good man. It's a big project but I'm looking forward to it. Incidentally, I agree that Lucky Golden was probably the group's best LP, but Dark Album comes close. Never quite understood the idea the Nuclear Nightclub should be the pinnacle of their career. Nice album, with Kite as the highlight, but not as totally amazing as the other two.
